Dwight Howard to Los Angeles Lakers: Does the trade make sense? NBA Feature
Ever since the 2010-2011 season came to an end, many NBA trade speculations developed into serious discussions. Among them the chief discussion was about, Dwight Howard’s trade. Howard is going to be a free agent in 2012 and his
future has been under the most spotlight this summer.
No matter how much Orlando Magic or the muscular centre Howard denies the rumour of a possible trade in the near future, the fact remains that the 25-year-old Dwight is very concerned with winning an NBA championship and the Magic’s
have failed to strengthen enough supporting cast around him to help the big man achieve his biggest dream.
Same was the case with the coveted small forward LeBron James, who left his draft team Cleveland Cavaliers on the quest to furnish his resume with an NBA title. Considering the fact that Orlando Magic doesn’t have a magic wand
to transform their team into a championship contender in one year, Dwight Howard is expected to have a new name on the front of his jersey in the 2012-2013 season.
Numerous reports have shown that the Western Conference elite Los Angeles Lakers are extremely interested to have the big man on board and Orlando Magic will consider a deal by having another burly centre in return which will be
Andrew Bynum. However the question is that does a trade featuring Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum makes sense for both the teams.
There is no doubt that Los Angeles Lakers will benefit more out of this trade. However, if Howard has decided to find himself a team where he can fulfil his championship dream, Andrew Bynum is the best man on board for the Magic’s
to make a deal.
The 24-year-old Andrew Bynum has star potential, athleticism, experience and most of all he is a game-winner. Bynum already has two NBA titles under his belt and he can help a team to win it all with a good-looking supporting cast.
Even though, Orlando Magic has made multiple attempts to introduce a suitable supporting cast for Howard with the experiments of landing Vince Carter and Gilbert Arenas. However they failed to find a combination which suited the
game-play of the Superman.
With the addition of Andrew Bynum, Orlando Magic will not only have the opportunity to find a new combination; the NBA franchise will also get enough financial benefit out of the trade to add further star cast on the roster. Bynum
will carry the same role in Orlando like Dwight Howard, to power the team from both the ends of the court.
For Orlando Magic, trading Dwight Howard for Andrew Bynum odes makes sense when they don’t have any option to keep the big man a part of their line-up.
On the other hand, Los Angeles Lakers might not want to part ways with the instrumental Andrew Bynum under the normal circumstances. However, if a trade will bring the three-time reigning NBA Defensive player of the Year in the
team, the Lakers don’t seem to have any option left than to sign the trade.
Both the teams will earn their benefits out of the trade in a situation when Dwight Howard is planning a move and this is something which is expected in the near future.
