Dwight Howard training with Hakeem Olajuwon – again: NBA Update
Dwight Howard was all praise about Hakeem Olajuwon, after the legendary centre had relayed some of his skills to the Orlando big man last season.
Howard was so impressed that he is once again working with "Akeem The Dream" this summer. Presently, Howard is in Houston and according to his tweets, he is working hard on his outside shooting.
In addition to that, he is looking to better his poor free throw shooting, which has been a major kink in his arsenal for some time now. Howard is undoubtedly the best centre in the league at the moment. He is a prolific rebounder
and an immaculate post scorer and in the last season, he even stepped up on his midrange shooting.
However, the free throw shooting and his inability to make big shots in the clutch has been a major thorn between him and a successful playoff run and make no mistake, the ‘Superman’ is out to rectify this.
During an interaction with his fans over a social networking website, Howard said that he is training hard in order to become a “more complete” player and to improve upon his jump shooting.
After two days of rigorous training with Olajuwon in the previous summer, Howard was able to achieve a career-best 22.9 points per game on 39.6 percent shooting from 10-15 feet range in 2010-11 season. However, Howard’s struggles
continued from the foul line and he finished the season on 0.596 percent conversion from the paint area.
His inaccuracy from the charity stripe eventually made the difference in close games. The fact was especially became pronounced in the first round of Eastern Conference playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks, where the Magic lost by
close margins on multiple occasions.
With the help of Hakeem this summer Howard is looking to excel in these areas. Howard admitted that his stint with Olajuwon last season, allowed him to experiment different things and as a result of that, he improved on his overall
court impact.
This time, Howard will train with Olajuwon for five days and rest assured that he will only improve. Dwight is not short on athleticism and power and always gives a tough time to his rival defenders and with the big man bent on
going a step further in his abilities, he will surely give some scares to even the best defences in the league.
