Dwight Howard very happy with his new team and organization, despite on court struggles – NBA News
Dwight Howard has not had a good time on the court ever since he has come to Los Angeles. The three time defensive player of the year was brought into the Lakers squad through a four team trade that sent former Lakers big man Andrew Bynum to the Philadelphia 76ers with the hope that he would take control of the front court of this team and also put his effect on the defensive end. However, although Howard has had some good games ever since he started playing for the Lakers, he is yet to create the Ramona  same sort of magic that people have grown accustomed to expecting from him. Howard has been particularly awry on the defensive end and his free throw troubles have cost the Lakers games on multiple occasions.
In such a situation, one would expect a player on the final year of his contract with a new contract due next summer to be worried about his performance and what impact he is making on the team. He would also be considering if the current team in the right place for him in the long run. However, Howard seems pretty happy where he is, even though it may not show on the court, and is expected to sign with the Lakers next season when his new contract is negotiated.
Howard talked to Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLA.com and said that he was very content with his new team and front office, and was enjoying his time here in L.A.
"From one to 10? I’d give it a good 12. I love it. It’s been a lot of fun. Just everything here, from the practices, the motivation of everybody here is championship, that’s what we need. I like the direction we’re headed. We’ve had some tough losses but we’ll learn and we’ll grow from it. We’re going to stick together,” said Howard.
Howard is in an ideal situation of being in a championship calibre team and a franchise that doesn’t stay away from NBA championships for too long. Also, Howard is in the biggest market available in the U.S.A and is living in Los Angeles. Who would want to leave all that? But Howard does not to concentrate on his game and become the defensive force that the Lakers expect and need him to become if they want to be genuine title contenders this season.
