Dwight Howard wants to have a say in Orlando Magic
trade matters – NBA News
Orlando Magic’s big man Dwight Howard, undoubtedly the best centre in the league, is the most talked about player on the trade bulletin in this year’s off-season.
The three-time reigning Best Defensive Player of the Year has been the face of Orlando Magic for good part of last decade. However, his contract with the franchise will expire after the 2011-2012 season and irrespective of Howards’
commitment that he will not move to any other franchise this season, various NBA teams have their sights affixed on the superstar, who holds the strength to change the fate of any team single-handedly.
A few weeks back, Howard indicated that if is stay at Orlando after 2011-12 season, the South Beach franchise will have to make some whole scale changes in the roster and will have to bring a star cast to back him up. Orlando Magic
seem to have answered his call and have committed to go for the best in the free agency and the trade block. However, it seems that the Superman still has his doubts and now wants to get involved in the deals, Magic make this summer.
Speaking on the matter, Howard said that the management didn’t take him into confidence in the early year trade involving Gilbert Arenas.
"I wanted to be more part of the process a little more. I had to step out on the court and I wanted to make sure that the people I played with wanted to go out and play hard every night. My only issue was the fact that I didn't
really have a chance to be involved, but I think with the guys that we brought in we still have an excellent chance of winning, but we all have to be on the same page." And Howard doesn't want to take any chances this time around.
Dwight is the only reason to think Orlando Magic has been a competitive side and they cannot afford to lose him. Howard has all the rights to examine the market of the free agents as the Orlando’s burly centre will only be convinced
to stay in the Magic for a longer period if the team gathers a decent supporting cast around him. By giving his input in the matters, Howard will be able to get exactly what he wants.
With the extra special talent and unbelievable strength Howard carries, he is meant to win a number of championships. The impact that Howard makes on the oppositions was perfe3ctly summed up Kevin Garnett, who himself holds a record
nine time All NBA first defensive team credentials on his resume,
"[Howard] is a freak of nature, man... I was nowhere near that physically talented. I wasn't that gifted, as far as body and physical presence."
Considering the fact that Howard has yet to get his hands NBA title after seven dominating years in the league, the big man won’t wait much longer if Orlando fails to make an improvement on the roster. Magic watch out.
