Dwight Howard’s future still in a limbo - NBA Update
Orlando Magic and Brooklyn Nets are still musing upon the possibility of making a trade that will send superstar centre Dwight Howard to Nets and in return Magic will get Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, and MarShon Brooks.
The proposed deal will also provide Magic with the New Jersey’s 1st round draft picks in 2013, 2015 and 2017.
However the two parties have not been able to reach an agreement so far and Nets are trying to involve a third party to entice Magic.
The All-Star centre has clearly stated that he has only one team on his wish list, and although Howard did not reveal the name, many sources around the league believe that it is Brooklyn Nets.
The aspect that makes the whole situation a bit complicated is Howard’s reluctance to sign a long term contract. He might find a good suitor in the Los Angeles Lakers, but with a shaky reputation on u-turns, the Lakers might be
wary.
Also Lakers will find it difficult to part ways with their superstar Andrew Bynum, the key player in this trade equation.
Rob Hennigan, Magic new GM cannot find a better opportunity than this to deal with Howard’s question. This particular question has hit Magic like a tornado during the last season. Dwight’s trade saga claimed the jobs of both previous
GM and coach. Now the franchise has made it clear that they will not travel down the same lane again in next season.
On the other hand Nets are trying to articulate a team around superstars. They are eying a Big Three of their own that will include Dwight, Joe Johnson and Deron Williams.
However the other involved parties approval is still pending but if they succeed in doing so than this troika will be considered in par with OKC Big Three or Miami Heat’s Big Three.
In a recent development it has been learnt that Nets forward Gerald Wallace has shown his approval to sign a 4 year $40 million extension with Brooklyn, adding another seasoned player to the projected troika.
