Dwyane Wade Being Lured To China At $2 Million Per Month? - NBA Rumour Mill
Kobe Bryant and his possible move to China has been the talk of the town for quite some time now and it seems like other shooting guard were feeling a bit ignored.
Dwyane Wade, the Miami Heat superstar and the closest possible thing to Kobe in terms of talent and ability, has also entered the frame. According to sources, Chinese club Zhejiang Guangsha has offered Wade a whooping sum of $2
million a month to feature in the team.
Wade was recently on a tour to China, where he was engaged in the promotion of his sponsor brands. The news however has not been confirmed as of yet and is still being considered as a rumour. Dwyane has also maintained a silent
stance up to now and has not committed to anything.
If the deal does materialize, Wade is estimated to bag $24 million over a period of one year with Zhejiang Guangsha, whereas, he will be earning around $15.7 million if he decides to stay with Miami and the season gets going.
The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) is reportedly considering banning foreign players, who do not intend to commit for a full year with a Chinese club. This could prove instrumental in helping the players decide their future.
Most high profile NBA stars have already stated that even if they move overseas, they will immediately return to the NBA as soon as the lockout ends.
Although the International governing body of basketball, FIBA, has permitted players to play overseas during the lockout, this decision has been made with an ‘opt-out’ clause available to all NBA players. However, the Chinese Basketball
Association is considering implementing a ‘no opt-out’ clause, which will keep a player at the club until his contract ends.
It has also been reported that the CBA has passed a rule whereby no Chinese club can entertain more than one foreign player in their squad. This has been specifically designed to make room for Chinese talent to develop, instead
of letting foreign players run the show.
Apparently, the CBA is trying to avoid any irregularities that such moves might bring to their normal season, even though there is a huge demand of high profile players in China as it is the second biggest market of the NBA. Other
big names such as Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant were also recently present in China to market their products.
These conditions, however, are expected to make it hard for players like Dwyane Wade to consider a move to China, despite a handsome salary in sight.
"We are not there yet," stated a diplomatic Wade. "We are going to start working out. The time to consider that has not come."
It seems clear that the players genuinely want the lockout to end so they can get their focus back on the NBA. So far, Deron Williams has been the only high profile name to have made a move to a foreign club.
