Dwyane Wade; a Superstar already
Dwyane Wade, an American basketball player who was born on January 1982 and was nick named D-Wade after he showed the skills that he possessed on court. In 2006 this fabulous player got the Player of the Year award. One of the popular players of the game, Wade saw his jersey being sold the most from the 2005 NBA playoffs till the 2006-07 season.
This skilful player came into the NBA after being a third draft pick in 2003. This immensely talented player’s hard work led him to being the Rookie of the Year and later was part of the All-Star team for the next six seasons. Not only this, he is one of the most valuable players in the Miami Heat team as he was a part of, Miami Heat, and played a critical role when they won the championship title in 2006. This was the peak of his career where he was also named the MVP of NBA.
Following the championship victory over Dallas and winning the series 4-2 Wade become a part the USA basketball men’s team and was handed over the responsibility of captaincy. His awards kept on coming and he was able to lead his team to a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics. Later on, in the 2008-09 season he was the top scorer of the league and was awarded the NBA scoring title.
Wade’s early life was somewhat a troubled one with his parents divorced, and he lived with his dad and stepmother in Illinois. Wade’s upbringing has totally been his elder sister’s responsibility, who guided him and showed him the right way that led to him being a successful person. His admittance in the high school did not give him much time for basketball but then as summers came he saw increase in playing time and by each passing day he saw improvement in his scoring abilities. Three college teams saw Wade playing for them due to academic problems.
After being drafted in the NBA in 2003 by the Miami Heat, he already had loads of talent; it was just that it needed to be exploited to the fullest and NBA was the best stage. In his rookie year he put up great shows that had led to some dominating performances by the Heat. However, this was overshadowed by other rookies of the time namely Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. The rookie year saw him end up in the All-Rookie team and earned him the third spot in the Rookie of the Year award after the voting.
The 2004 season saw the enormous Shaquille O’Neal join the Heat from the Lakers and the same season saw him being part of the All-Star team where he was a reserve and managed to score 14 points in 24 minutes of play that he took part in. The season also saw the Heat reach the Eastern Conference Finals where they lost to the Pistons. Though Wade suffered rib injuries but he did not let that rule him out and he continued. The loss was a heart breaking one as they had led the series 3-2 after the fifth game.
The following season of 2005-06 saw history books writing Miami Heats’ name as the champions with the most successful duo of Wade and Shaq that clicked just at the right time. This player had now developed more into a superstar was amongst the popular players of the NBA. The Heat won the NBA finals against the Dallas Mavericks in which they had put up dominating performances. One of ESPN’s experts regarded that NBA final as the best NBA finals after the NBA and ABA had merged to form one franchise.
His dominance was not only seen in the NBA only but also on the International stage where he managed to secure gold medals in 2008 in China and bronze in Athens. The FIBA World Championships also saw them finish in the 3rd position. The shooting guard with these impressive awards dominates games when playing and not only that, as years have passed he has grown from an ordinary player to a superstar.
