Dwyane Wade and LeBron James guide Miami Heat to a 103-73 victory over Brooklyn Nets: NBA Recap
Dwyane Wade and LeBron James inspired Miami Heat to a convincing victory over Brooklyn Nets here at American Airlines Arena on Wednesday night. With the win, Heat went 4-0 up at home for the first time in their history.
Wade was the leading scorer on the night with 22 points, going 10 of 14 from the floor. James fell shy off just two assists from a triple double while Rashard Lewis came off the bench to fetch 13 points.
Heats shot 51.9 percent from the floor and 41.7 percent from the three point range while Nets had ordinary figures of 37.5 percent from the field and a partly 14.3 percent from downtown.
Kris Humphries scored a double-double in the first half but could not click in the second and ended up with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Nets. Their 19 turnovers compared to only 12 for the Miami Heat hurt a lot as they failed
to keep pace with Miami’s scoring. Deron Williams committed 7 of those turnovers and managed only 14 points on the night.
The Nets kept the Heat in close check in the first half but lost control of the game in the second, however the outcome was never really in doubt. Both teams found themselves even on the scoreboard early on. A LeBron James layup
made it 10-7 before Nets went ahead with a Kris Humphries jump shot to go 11-10.
James followed it up with a three pointer to put Heat up, but near the halfway mark it was again 14-13 for the Nets. Andray Blatche layup a few minutes later got the Nets to 20-19. James got a layup and Lewis fired a 16 foot jumper
in the closing moments of the quarter to leave Heat leading at 26-22.
Heat started the second quarter well to go 30-22 up which was followed by a 5 zip run by Nets to get back at 27-30. Dwyane Wade picked off a steal and gave an outlet to LeBron who tossed it back up to Wade for a nice rim-rocker
as they went up 42-31. Humphries’ dunk shot in the last minute of the half closed the gap but LeBron nailed one in, just as the whistle blew, to leave Heat leading 50-41 going into half time.
Heat stole the game away in the third quarter as they outscored the Nets by 14. Keith Bogans made a 25-foot three point jumper to get the Nets within a catching distance of the Heat at 46-54 but Miami replied back with a 10-0 run,
racing to a 64-46 advantage.
Nets took a 20 seconds time out at that point and managed to pull back 4 points immediately afterwards, but the Heat kept the scoring up. James fired a 25 foot 3 pointer with just 5 seconds remaining in the quarter to put the defending
NBA Champions up by 79-56.
Nets started the final quarter with a 6-0 spree but it was followed by an 11-2 run by the Heat, who increased their lead to 90-64. The writing was on the wall by that time and Heat comfortably closed the game at103-73.
