Dwyane Wade believes he has established on-court chemistry with LeBron James – NBA News
After the Miami Heat brought LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh together to raise a media storm, much of the talk was dedicated to how such big players, and big egos, would fit in the same roster. All three had been alpha
dogs in their previous years and playing together would mean a lot of sacrifice, as well as patience and understanding of one another’s game.
The Wade and LeBron partnership in particular came under the spotlight because both players like to make the plays, hog the ball and drive to the rim. Chris Bosh is more of big guy and his game is based in and around the post,
so he wouldn’t have too much trouble realizing his role.
Looking back at the season, Dwyane Wade feels that LeBron and himself managed to do what they set out to, and played pretty well together. The numbers certainly back him up, and Wade said in the end it was the desire of the two
super stars that helped smooth things over,
“We figured it out. I think we did a very good job,” Wade said during an interview. “It didn’t hurt. LeBron was still third in the league in scoring. I was still like fifth in the league in scoring” (actually fourth for the record)….
“It really didn’t change much of our ability once we got comfortable,” Wade said. “Me and him are very good friends. We’re two guys who want to make it work, who wanted to make it work for our teammates to be successful, so we
did.”
Analysts believe it was Dwyane who sacrificed the most to make the partnership work. The Heat realized early on that LeBron James was one of the best playmakers in the league and decided to put the ball in his hands as much as
possible. Wade therefore had to alter his game somewhat and get used to not having the ball all the time. He instead focused on cutting and spotting up and enjoyed the freedom to pretty much do whatever he wanted when he got the ball.
In the end it worked well for the Heat. Both players were in the top five for scoring in the NBA. Miami came second in the Eastern Conference in the regular season and went all the way to the NBA Finals afterwards.
Heat fans would be hoping that the two can perform even better next year as they are now used to each other’s game and fully settled into this star studded Miami Heat side. If they do, it will be very hard to stop the Heat from
claiming an NBA World Championship.
