Dwyane Wade disappointed with NBA lockout; could go overseas – NBA Update
Miami Heat super star Dwyane Wade spoke of his disappointment with the NBA lockout in a recent interview. The player said he yearned to play basketball again and would even consider moving abroad if it meant he would be able to
play at a reasonable level once again.
The Heat star has been one of the most vocal critics of the NBA owners during the NBA lockout. The lockout started almost 5 months ago after the old Collective Bargaining Agreement expired and Wade is believed to have engaged in
a shouting match with NBA Commissioner David Stern in a meeting to formulate a new one.
Those meetings became bitter and bitter over the last 4 months or so and now the dispute is at an impasse, with NBA owners refusing to come to the table for talks. The player have since disbanded their union and filed two separate
lawsuits against the owners, hoping to get the season started.
Wade for one cannot believe that there could be a season wipe-out.
"I can't imagine going a year without basketball and I don't think that will happen," he said in an interview with the Sun Sentinel. "Some way, some how, I'm going to be part of a team.”
He is one of the best players in the league, and undoubtedly one of the most competitive. At his core though, Wade just wants to play basketball for as long as he can, and missing out a complete year just isn’t an option for him.
"I can't see myself sitting out a full year, not playing basketball, at some kind of high level. Obviously, the level I want to be playing on is the NBA level and that's what we're going continue to try to do, but if that is not
the case, I will try to find a way where I can play at a high level."
How he will get to play in the United States is a million dollar question right now. NBA owners and Commissioner David Stern are determined to get their hand on as much of the money coming into basketball as they can. With the
players finally having drawn a line, it’s hard to say how there would be any movement.
Regular season games have already been called off up till 15th December, and it is likely the whole season will indeed be cancelled. Wade is aware of the situation, which is why he has told his agent to find him alternative
playing avenues.
"I have gotten on the phone with my agent, saying, 'Listen, maybe we need to peak our head on the other side and see the possibilities,' "
If Wade does decide to go abroad, Europe would be his most likely destination as many NBA stars have already made a switch across the Atlantic.
