Dwyane Wade files for cancellation of ex wife’s children visitation rights – NBA News
Miami Heat star guard Dwyane Wade has asked a Chicago judge to cancel his ex-wife’s right of visitation with their two sons after an incident over the weekend which delayed the return of custody.
Wade’s attorney James Pritikin filed an emergency motion and appeared in court on Tuesday, hours before Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The hearing has been set for the 26th
of June.
Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, his ex wife, was charged with two counts of attempted child abduction, two counts of unlawful visitation interference and one count of resisting arrest.
“Once again, S.L. has used our minor children as the proverbial pawns in this contentious dissolution of marriage action. This court must take action to protect our minor children from further exposure to the present environment
S.L. creates while they are in her care and preventing S.L. from exercising her parenting time in a manner that is harmful to our children,” said Wade in the court filing while using the initials “S.L” to refer to his ex wife.
The couple were divorced in 2010 and Wade won custody of the children in March 2011. His ex wife appealed the decision but was denied in December 2011.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon when Wade’s sister had to pick his two sons up from his ex wife’s place so they could board a flight from Chicago to Miami and be with their father on Father’s day, which was on Sunday.
However, Wade’s sister got no response when she went to pick the kids up, and after waiting for a while she called the police. Wade later hired a private jet to get his sons in Miami early Sunday morning so they could spend the
whole of father’s day with him.
"The minor children have been subjected to great deal of drama/trauma as a result of S.L.'s conduct,” added Wade in the filing.
It was stated in court documents that upon arrival, his elder son told Wade that a woman by the name of Nadgee Alarcon was present at his mother’s house and she smacked him in the head.
