Dwyane Wade gives insight on the kind of player Chicago Bulls require to win the NBA Championship
The Miami Heat faced up against the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference Finals last season. With the likes of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh in their ranks, the South Beach franchise was given a run for their money,
but were eventually able to upset the Bulls and their lone star player, Derrick rose.
Rose proved last season that he is a phenomenal player, but it was evident that the Bulls need someone capable enough alongside him to help them get past teams such as the Heat.
Now Dwyane Wade has come out to speak his mind about the exact type of player Rose requires to fully blossom in the Chicago Bulls side.
Derrick himself has remained defiant since the Eastern Conference Finals and rubbished Chicago’s need for a new player. He has time and again said that he has every confidence in his current teammates and tried to blame himself
for Chicago’s exit in the playoffs. However the facts do not support his assertions.
Chicago did look woefully short of options, especially on the offensive end, against the stifling defence put up by the Miami Heat. At times it looked like Derrick Rose was the only one on their team who could score or create,
and Miami did a good job of isolating him and putting him under extreme pressure. The result is now history.
Most analysts in the NBA agree that the Bulls need another player in support of Rose. The youngest MVP winner in history might be one splendid talent, but even he cannot do it alone. Dwyane has watched Rose closely for the last
few years and is a big fan.
He is among the people who have said that the Chicago Bulls star needs some help if he is to bring the glory days back to the United Center. In an interview recently, Wade discussed exactly what was required to do that and the
consensus was someone who could ease the pressure on Rose’s shoulders.
"As a point guard, when you have to score so much, and have to make every big shot, and have to make all the passes, eventually it takes a toll on you throughout the season, no matter how phenomenal you are.” Dwyane said, pointing
towards the sheer amount of responsibility on Derrick’s shoulders.
"So just someone who can come in and take some of that pressure away. That's why I was excited not only to play with my friend but excited to play with a guy like LeBron, because it takes some of that pressure away from having
to do it year after year after year. It saves you, your body."
It is plain to see that Chicago’s options at the shooting guard position, such as Keith Bogans and Kyle Korver, leave too much to do for their MVP winner. Whether they readdress the weakness in the free agency remains to be seen.
