Dwyane Wade labels negativity against the Miami Heat as “Unfair”- NBA Update
Miami Heat’s star player Dwyane Wade recently broke the ice and spoke out against the heavy criticism and scrutiny his side came under last season. Miami faced a lot of vitriol in the 2010-2011 NBA season because of various reasons
and Wade believes much of it was unfair.
The Heat star was a free agent last summer and was expected to move away from the franchise after spending years in a mediocre team. However, he changed his mind after the Heat acquired super star free agent LeBron James, then
of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and all star power forward Chris Bosh.
The trio joined hands in Miami to form the new Big Three of the NBA, and possibly the most dominant ever. However LeBron brought with him a lot of negative attention because of the way he handled his own departure from home town
side Cleveland Cavaliers.
Some ill advised antics of all three stars, as well as bold predictions of dominating the future of the NBA, compounded the negativity and the Heat soon became public enemy number one. Miami were perceived as an arrogant bunch
of super star players and faced hostility throughout the NBA world. Away games in particular were tough for the Heat as opposition fans spewed vitriol in their direction.
The media also put Miami under intense scrutiny and anything to do with the basketball club or its main players was often blown out of proportion. Dwyane and the rest of his teammates fought through some early troubles and managed
to register a respectable season, but the guard has now confirmed that he doesn’t believe the criticism faced was on merit,
“Obviously we went through a lot last year. It was unfair some of the stuff that we had to endure but we grew from it. That’s over with. We move on to whenever we play basketball again and we will be a different team….”
“It was tough. I’ve went through tougher things because at the end of the day it’s the game of basketball. You find the joy in it and at the end of the day we had a good team.”
Wade and the Heat were perceived last season as outsiders and often bullies by most of the NBA fans. Many people tuned in to watch them lose and supported anyone playing against the team.
In the NBA Finals, the Heat came up against the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs underdog, veteran team drew huge support from around the country as they were made out as the perfect foil to the star studded arrogant Heat roster.
Wade and Miami are now hoping people can forget what happened last summer and the side can concentrate on playing basketball.
