Dwyane Wade on fire as Miami Heat defeat Sacramento Kings 120 – 108 NBA Recap
The Miami Heat picked up their 7th straight win after beating the Sacramento Kings 120 – 108 on Tuesday. The Heat game was well contested, even though Miami looked stronger throughout, and in the end it went the Heat’s way, to the delight of the
American Airlines Arena crowd.
"We weren't necessarily sharp consistently throughout the game. We did some nice things in spurts and stretches. You do have to give the Kings credit, they played very well ... They pushed us there until the very end." Erik Spoelstra, Miami’s head coach,
said after the game.
Heat super star Dwyane Wade was in the groove tonight. The guard has been in impressive form for some time now and delivered another vintage performance, game high 30 points and 10 assists for his double-double.
Chris Bosh also had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds while LeBron James narrowly missed out, scoring 18 and dishing out 8 assists. Other than the Big Three, Mario Chalmers had a noteworthy night out, scoring 20 points.
The Kings started Isaiah Thomas and the guard responded with team high 24 points as well as 5 assists. Tyreke Evans though was most impressive with a double-double at 21 points and 10 assists. Marcus Thornton scored 23 points while forward Jason Thompson
had 16 and 10 rebounds.
The game started evenly, and after some early exchanges the score was 6 – 6. The Kings then went on an 11 – 3 run that put them in front at 17 – 9. Chalmers though hit one from downtown to spark an 11 – 2 sprint for the Heat, putting them ahead at 20 – 19.
Sacramento however finished the first quarter with a flurry, making it 32 – 26.
The second period belonged to the Heat, who opened with a 10 – 3 spurt, getting their noses ahead 36 – 35. Sacramento were able to fight back, but Miami were too strong and ended the first half with a 14 – 6 rally for a 57 – 53 advantage.
After the break both sides came out firing. The offences clicked and defences were abandoned, resulting in a total of 71 points in the third quarter. It was pleasing for the fans but neither side managed to get a significant advantage over the other and
the score was 93 – 88 to Miami.
That though proved too much for Sacramento in the final 12 minutes. The Heat had a 9 point run that took their lead into double figures and shut the door for a Kings’ comeback. Sacramento never got close afterwards and the game ended 120 – 108 to Miami.
Kings coach Keith Smart remarked after the game that Miami Heat are just too talented a side and he was proud that his team had done as well as they did on the night against such opposition.
"We had to play a perfect game to win this against this team and we were pretty close to a perfect game. We had moments but when you give up 25 points off turnovers, you are not going to beat many teams."
