Dwyane Wade reflects on the meteoric rise of Derrick Rose – NBA Update
Dwyane Wade took time for an interview recently and talked about a host of topics. Among those was the future of Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose. Wade had some sound advice for his future, but also reflected on the player’s meteoric
rise in the very recent past.
Derrick Rose raised some eyebrows when he openly questioned why he couldn’t be the MVP last summer. While most people answered with “LeBron James” or “Kobe Bryant”, Rose himself was convinced of his ability.
Fast forward a year in which the Chicago point guard absolutely tore apart every defence in his way, guided his team to the best record in the whole of the NBA and became the youngest recipient of the NBA’s regular season Most
Valuable Player award in history, and many people have a new found respect for the player.
Count Dwyane Wade among them.
Wade is a Chicago native and although he has played for the Miami Heat his entire NBA career, he still keeps a keen eye on the Bulls. The guard is also a big fan of Rose and revealed how he himself was mesmerized by the displays
of the Chicago man last year.
Wade said Rose’s talent was never in doubt but his application, hard work and maturity have really left him in awe,
"Obviously I knew he had so much talent and how athletic he was, but that summer from the [World Championships] to when the season started, he changed his game dramatically," Wade said. "His confidence went to another level and
he became a player around the league where everybody was like, 'Oh man, he figured it out. He figured it out early.'”
Wade also complemented Rose on being a great guy, level headed and all. He said he was delighted for his MVP win and was really happy to see another Chicago guy do so amazing well in the league.
"He became the MVP of the league and he's still the same guy, a phenomenal person and human being. He makes you proud to say you're from Chicago."
Dwyane Wade himself could have been part of the Bulls roster and played alongside Rose if he had agreed to a proposed move last summer in the free agency. He though decided to stay in Miami and join forces with Chris Bosh and LeBron
James.
He actually came face to face with the Chicago man when the Heat and the Bulls met in the Eastern Conference Finals. Wade got the better of Derrick thanks to his esteemed support cast and the lack of one in the Bulls, but he is
wary that Rose would not be denied that easily in the future.
