The Miami Heat star has been working out on his jumpers for some time and the results are beginning to show...
Dwyane Wade underwent a knee surgery in the summer, and coming into the season, it was only natural for him to focus on his outside game, and cut back on the dash and slash style of play, he is renowned.
That didn’t quite work out for the star shooting guard and he did receive his due share of criticism. However, Wade has overcome the barrier and in the last eight games, he is shooting above 61 percent from the floor. His form
has helped the Miami offence a lot in the recent weeks. The guard recently revealed that much of this improvement has been the result of coaching;
"You have to know your problem," Wade said. "When I'm missing, I already know how and why I'm missing. I know that I don't have a lot of arc on my shot. So I know that me shooting on the way down is really fighting against the
wind.”
"For me, it was just to get somebody to come in, different than what I'm used to, a different voice."
Times have changed quickly for Wade too. Gone are the days when he was the lone offensive outlet at the South Beach, a period that saw him win the NBA championship. Now he has the likes of LeBron James and Chris Bosh along his
side, and the shots have become rarer. So whatever he gets, Wade has to make the most of them.
And it is also a reflection of what is to come. At 31, Wade is longer the athlete aka Flash he used to be, and with time he will have to rely more on the outside shots to be more effective. It has happened to even the best of them,
Kobe Bryant being the most prominent example of modern times. Wade has that in his mind.
"It's a combination of it all," he said. "Obviously you have to plan for [the future]. At the same time, you understand that you want to open up the game. You want to get better.”
