Dwyane Wade says Derrick Rose is bound for greatness; Compares him to Jordan, Kobe, James & himself
Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade is a huge fan of Derrick Rose. The guard sat down for an interview recently and said in his eyes Rose has all the ingredients required to become a truly great NBA players.
Dwyane Wade came face to face with Rose and his Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference Finals last season. Although the Heat got the better of Chicago in the series by stifling Rose was space and exploiting his side’s lack of
offensive alternatives, Wade was still mightily impressed by the young star.
Rose became the youngest NBA MVP award winner in history at age 22 and Wade says he completely deserved it. The Heat star knows what he is taking about as he is himself a former NBA Finals MVP. He also hails from Chicago and has
watched Derrick’s progress very closely.
Wade says he really likes what he has seen so far and compared the young star to legends such as Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan himself,
"I see a lot of things he did, and I look back and say, 'that was me before,' or 'that was LeBron before, that was Kobe [Bryant] before.' Michael Jordan did the same thing," Wade said. "A lot of greats go through it.”
Wade had a chance to join up with Derrick Rose last summer for what would have made one of the most thrilling back court combos in the history of the game. However Derrick had not blossomed into the monster player that he is today.
The Heat meantime recruited the likes of LeBron James, formerly of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Chris Bosh, formerly of the Toronto Raptors.
The two free agent signings turned Miami into a significant NBA power and Dwyane decided to stay as well. He sees Rose in a similar situation to himself from a year ago now, when he did not have the support required to truly express
himself and compete for the highest honours. However he assured Derrick that the franchise will eventually help him get to the very top, somewhere he truly belongs.
"Then eventually, they put the teammates around you that can help you, and you get better and you learn that you can't do it all yourself. You start to open a little more and let your teammates do a little more and get them more
confident. I see it, yeah."
For the moment, Wade would be hoping that Rose cannot go past the Eastern Conference Finals again. The Miami Heat have a mission of their own right now and they are determined to not let anyone stand in their way.
