Dwyane Wade says Miami Heat are making adjustments for next season – NBA News
The Miami Heat had a roller coaster season which eventually led them to winning the NBA championship back in June.
The Heat lost Chris Bosh to a stomach injury in the Eastern Conference Semi Finals against the Indiana Pacers, and constantly struggled at the centre position. Hence, they had to make changes in their game plan every now and then,
coming out with a different strategy each game that ultimately helped them clinch the title. From using LeBron James at power forward to relying on Shane Battier as a perimeter shooter, the Heat tried different combinations and rotations till they found what
worked.
But just because the Heat ended with an NBA title does not mean that they do not need to evolve or make more changes.
They need to keep looking for players to add to their line-up, and need to constantly keep an eye on other teams in the NBA so that they can have answers for their game plan. The Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma
City Thunder have all gone through roster changes in the offseason and are looking better than the previous one. Miami needs to keeping changing and improving at the same pace if they want to make it a multiple championship winning run.
Dwyane Wade agrees with that notion.
The star shooting guard talked with Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and emphasized that just because the Heat are champions does not mean that can go into next season without any improvements and adjustments.
“You never know what player is going to start off and be playing a certain way and you switch things up a little bit. But we have that luxury, because we have not only three marquee players, but we have a lot of other players on
our team that’s very capable, highly capable, and very good. And there will be decisions to be made, from how to maximize Allen’s role in the rotation, as stressed during his recruitment, to where to play Lewis,” said Wade.
The Heat picked up former Boston Celtics shooting specialist Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis in the offseason to improve their shooting arsenal, which will help them spread the opposition defences next season and give many open looks
to perimeter shooters. They are however still short of a quality centre, and will mostly rely on small lineups and their agility.
