Dwyane Wade wants to play preseason games provided the knee stays on his side – NBA Report
Miami Heat are the team to beat this season, simply because they are the reigning champions and have three of the most talented players on their roster. Add to that the fact that they have been the most talked about team for the
last two seasons and the pressure of performing has never been higher for the team.
However, the Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, is handling the pressure very well and not pushing his players too hard as they get ready for the start of the season.
The Heat have opened training camp at the American Airlines Arena, and players are talking about the relatively mellow approach of Spoelstra towards practice and drills this time around. Among the issues Spoelstra needs to handle,
the biggest is perhaps the return of Dwyane Wade to the team.
Wade played through a knee injury in the playoffs last season, and underwent surgery on that right after the NBA Finals, forcing him to miss the London Olympics. He worked hard in the offseason to get back into shape and full strength,
but there is still a question mark whether he will compete in the Heat’s preseason games.
It is needless to say that Wade will only return once he can trust his knee and the doctors give him a clear go-ahead, but that does not mean that he is not looking to return before the start of the season.
Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel talked to Wade about his injury and the recovery process, and Wade revealed that he would love to be back for a few preseason games so that he can get going before the actual season starts.
“Wade said there is nothing to speculation that he will sit out the entire preseason due to his knee. “I will try a preseason game,” he said. “It will be more than one. I won’t be eight, but it will be more than one,”” reported
Winderman.
Wade took part in the entire of Tuesday’s practice with the Heat, and played well through it. However, what really matters is how he wakes up the next day, and if there is any swelling on his knee. Should the knee stay healthy,
it will be a good sign for Wade and Heat, and we could see him in action before the start of the season.
