Dwyane Wade weighs in on the ‘LeBron James to Lakers’ rumour – NBA Update
Just when we thought that the focus has finally shifted away from the Miami Heat and their superstar trio, they are again into the news.
According to a recent report on ESPN, the Los Angeles Lakers have started pondering over their options of luring in reigning league MVP LeBron James once the 2013-14 season ends, and the star forward has the option of either opting
out or signing a two year extension with Miami.
With Kobe Bryant planning to retire in two year’s time, the Lakers will have the cap space required to absorb even the most lucrative of contracts. James talked about the rumour after the pre-season game against the Detroit Pistons.
He made it clear that he wants to stay put and the only thing on his mind is the next season and another championship.
Dwyane Wade, who played a major part in luring James to the South Beach two seasons back, also sounded dismissive;
"They (media) can leave my teammate alone, man," Wade said. "Get on with that. He's going to be here. We're straight. So they can go and mess with somebody else."
The vibes can possibly be an attempt to unsettle James and Heat as they prepare to defend their NBA championship next season. Even after major enforcements by the Lakers this summer, Miami Heat remain as the team to beat and the
inclusion of few more sharp shooters, especially Ray Allen, has added to their pedigree.
Miami still have the best player in the league and arguably the best shooting guard as well. With Chris Bosh coming into his own, the Heat are looking scary to say the least, and James insisted that these speculation will do little
to shake him and his team;
"It's not frustrating," James said. "Guys are making stories every day. It doesn't matter to me. I'm true to my teammates. I'm here and this is what it's all about -- us building and trying to get better as a team. Anyone can write
a story. If you have ESPN, then it becomes credible. So do what you've got to do."
