Dwyane Wade’s agent denies $2 Million per month Chinese offer: NBA Update
The shooting guard of Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade became the highlight of the news yesterday when the rumours circulated that the NBA superstar was offered two million dollars a month to play in China.
On Friday, Wade’s agent Henry Thomas denied the reports and stated that his client has neither received an offer from any Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) club nor the NBA superstar had any discussion with the professional
teams from china.
"Neither Dwyane Wade nor I have received any offers like that. If offers are made down the road, will they be looked at? Absolutely. Dwyane said something along the lines of that being 'premature' and 'we're not there yet,' and
that is accurate," Henry said.
One of the media sources in China reported that ‘Zhejiang Guangsha’, a Chinese basketball franchise has agreed to offer Wade a whooping sum of 2 million dollars per month to play in the next season. This would have amounted to
24 million dollars per year, about nine million dollars more than Wade receives from Miami Heat annually. One of the officials from the Chinese Basketball team Zhejiang Guangsha also rejected all the claims of offering $2 Million to the Miami Heat’s superstar
to play for the team in the upcoming season and the matter seems to have died down as such.
Dwyane Wade was on a promotional tour in China last month along with New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony and New Orleans Hornets’ Chris Paul. All the three players indicated to play in China until the NBA lockout ends. Due to a huge
fan following and being world’s biggest market, the list of the NBA players willing to play in China is increasing every day.
However it seems like the Chinese league doesn’t want the best players of the world to play in their country for a short-term period.
The CBA has is reportedly considering the implementation of two strong rules which will stop the influx of NBA players coming to China. According to those rules, there will be no out-clause option in the contracts of the NBA players
and a Chinese team can only acquire one NBA player. Apparently the CBA does not want China to become the backyard of NBA players, who want to exploit the system till they deem it beneficial for them.
The international governing body of basketball, FIBA, on the other hand has clearly stated the NBA players will receive the clearance to play in their certified events, only of the international leagues offers an out-clause in
their contracts. This way the players will be able to join NBA when the work stoppage comes to an end.
