Dwyane Wades says he is not angry about media scrutiny last season – NBA Update
Miami Heat were easily the most vilified NBA team last season. A whole host of factors contributed to a media storm against the Heat that lasted pretty much the whole season.
Although not majorly responsible, Dwyane Wade went through it all and did react once or twice, but the Heat star isn’t the one to obsess about it. Instead, Wade said he didn’t mind what happened. The Heat shooting guard said it
was all part and parcel of the game and you just have to roll with the punches. He added that one day he would be looking back at it all with a smile on his face,
“I’m not going to sit here and cry about what was said and what wasn’t said. It was what it was. We enjoyed it. The ups and the downs is all a part of the journey. It’s all going to be something that we all look back at one day
and laugh about it. I’m not going to cry about nothing that was said about the Miami Heat this year. It was what it was.” The super star said while talking to ESPN.
The Heat bashing started last preseason when LeBron infamously decided to ditch Cleveland and bring his talents to the South Beach. The whole thing exploded due to incessant media coverage and some bad P.R. moves on the part of
King James. Soon the whole league saw Miami as stubborn and arrogant, a team stacked with obscene amounts of talents, but little respect for the rest of the league.
To add fuel to fodder, Heat struggled at the start of the season, with injuries and the compatibility being the main issues. Dwyane admitted in the interview that he didn’t expect the learning curve to be as steep as it was,
“Yeah, it was a little more difficult than we anticipated. Putting it all together, making it all work. Making sure that when we have a team, everyone has to be involved and everyone has to be happy.”
However, the Heat grew in strength as the season progressed but so did their detractors. It came to the point when people started tuning in to the playoffs, hoping to see LeBron and company lose.
When Miami were paired with the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, the polarization among the support became even more evident. The Mavs were basically a team of “have-beens”. Most of their players were way past their prime,
with the exception of one big star, Dirk Nowitzki.
They were the underdogs and the fans invariably chose them over Heat. When the Mavs actually won, the vitriol against Miami reached even new heights.
However, even if all the fans go against them, the fact still remains that Wade and company are already the favourites to win the next season.
