ok like i said before i dyed my hair black last week but the color is way too intense and unnatural so its driving me crazy. if i were to color it again should i use a permanent or semi-permanent color? (the black was permanent) im asking because i heard semi-permanent is less harsh on the hair than permanent. is that true?

or is there a shampoo or something i can use that will help it fade a little faster without totally stripping and damaging my hair?

  1. Nothing apart from bleach or peroxide will lift the colour from black.. So if i was you i would just keep washing it with a shampoo that is for coloured hair. It will fade over time. You would totally ruin your hair if you put anything strong on it and you would need a high strength (9-12%) and your hair would go like cotton wool. Hope this helps :)

  2. Get highlights.

    Still lightens you hair.

    Without it being too harsh.

  3. i think you should go to a professional place and let them take out the color. then you can red-dye it whatever color you want. i would choose permanent because you might not like it that much and i think that it does do less damage on your hair.

  4. One of the basic theories of coloring hair : color does not lift darker color.  Meaning: you dyed your hair black - if you dye it blonde it won't go blonde.

You want to wait awhile to dye again.  Let it fade by just using a basic Dove shampoo - helped me fade my hair from black to a dark brown without killing my hair.  I used just the kind for normal hair types.

Semi-permanent is still harsh on the hair - and you can ruin your hair.  Whatever you do - do not use color oops.  I made this mistake and my hair was awful for awhile until it grew out.  Any color remover is awful for your hair.

You can try a semi-permanent in a few weeks - go to a medium/light brown - not too far from your color.  OR find a permanent aimed at dark hair.  Just remember - color doesn't lift color.  You don't really wanna bleach and start over though - so try and just pick a color that will dye dark hair.

    Be careful!

  5. There is no coloring over black hair-dye, even if it was semi-permanent. It's no different than coloring with a brown crayon on a piece of black paper, you won't see a change.

You can use a color remover, but they can damage your hair, so it's best to have a pro do it if you choose to.

Otherwise, you can ride it out - it will fade some over the first several weeks after coloring, but it will not fade to brown it will still be distinctly black. As I was told by many a hair pro before going black myself, you have to be 100% sure before going to that color.

  6. You can't just color over it to lighten it.  Color doesn't work that way.  You can use a clarifying shampoo and it will help it fade out a little bit faster without damaging your hair.
