Question:

Dyeing a Wetsuit?

I was wondering if anyone's tried dyeing a wetsuit before?

Could you bleach a wetsuit then dye it with normal clothing dyes from the local hobby store?

Is it even possible? Most suits seem to be made from neoprene from what I gather.

Thanks!

  1. DO NOT DO IT. If u really want to.. wear a rash guard over it or summin

  2. The bleach is going to damage the material. Fabric dye like "TINTEX " for example, can't  do neoprene.

                                I don't think is possible.

  3. it screws up the suit really bad

  4. Kelly Slater spraypainted his white once. I read it in a mag a while back. Paint would crack though. The prob with dieing it is that they don't want to hold on to water so it dosn't soak up the die good. If its black and I were going to try for some reason I would bleach it 1st then wait for it to dry then soak in die for the day. It would end up looking pretty screwy but if you want to try on an old one you don't use go ahead.

  5. Are you kidding right? bleach has a very high PH and a wetsuit is made from rubber, so yes you can if you want your suit to have holes and never work again. Please do not try that... ever... no seriously... i mean ever.

  6. don't its just stupid just buy a wetsuit in the colour you want dont just buy one to go and tie-dye
