My son is seven and he's going to a costume party and wants to bleach his hair to be a paler blond. (he's going as Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter) He has sandy blond hair now but wants it to be lighter. is there a safe way to do this? I'm thinking about using a natural dye or hydrogen peroxide to do it. does anyone know of a good safe way to dye a young childs hair?

  1. Um no.

    Hair dye is for women.

Little boys don't need hair dye.  Grown men don't need hair dye.

Call me old fashioned...but I just don't think that's right.

  2. That just aint right...

  3. If he's already blonde, try using  lemon juice and sitting him in the sun for a day. (Don't forget the sunscreen!! :)

If not, maybe you could powder his hair with baby powder to make it look lighter.

Peroxide is the only real lightner for hair, and it could irritate his scalp.

Sometimes at costume stores they have a spray in paint that could work to lighten in, sort of like a wash out deal.

Other than that, if you're going to use a hair dye from the grocery store, try to use a Garnier brand, they use more natural ingredients.

  4. They have spray-on hair color at some beauty supply stores, just for this purpose.  It washes out with shampoo.  This might be a good temporary solution.

  5. if you go to your local beauty supply store (Sally's is what we have) the gals in there will tell you what to use and can answer all questions..good luck

  6. DON'T use hydrogen peroxide!!!  Depending on your son's sensitivity he could lose his hair *permanently*!  I would absolutely go with the light blond hairspray or a wig at this age.  It's just a party..................

  7. peroxide is the same as bleaching it. i would get a non permanate or semi-permanant in a very blonde color.

    thats a cute idea (draco)

  8. I'd opt for a wig instead or a temporary color rinse. Children have sort of unpredictable hair dye results.

  9. try sun in or what about one of those that you shampoo in and it comes out after a few washings.

  10. Dye is very harsh, I would try a wig.....Not to mention your son could have a very sensitive scalp, imagine if he reacted. You`d have to explain to everyone why you dyed his hair. I wouldn`t risk it.
