Swansea City winger, Nathan Dyer, has called upon his team to make Liberty Stadium a fortress if they are to emulate their last season’s successes.
The English International insisted that the Swans need to make life difficult for the visiting teams and feels that they have got what it takes to upstage even the Premier League’s big boys at their own citadel.
Last season, the South http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 outfit lost just four matches at home. Only the top four teams and Newcastle United suffered lesser defeats at home than them.
However, the situation is a wee bit different this time around, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup’s unit have struggled so far to assert their authority at the Liberty Stadium.
Of the three games that they have played at their own turf, the Swans have only secured 2 points and were hammered 3-0 by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019.
The forward, who has capped 156 appearances for Swansea in all competitions, believes that their home form will be crucial in determining where they will end up in the table.
He also said that it was pertinent that they do not become easy pushovers for the big teams and wants his side to give them a tough run for the money at the Liberty Stadium.
“We need to make the Liberty a fortress like we did last year and make it difficult for teams to come here and play,” he is reported to have said.
“We also want to let the big teams know that when they play against us at home then it is going to be a really difficult game and they have to work really hard to get anything out of it.”
After securing heavy wins in their opening two games, the Welsh club wilted and suffered three back-to-back defeats before finally managing a point out of their last game against Reading.
Commenting on the match, the 24-year old revealed that the result was hard to take since they had dominated the proceedings from the start till the end.
However, he said that it served as a good learning experience for the team and was confident that they won’t repeat the same mistakes against Wigan Athletic in their next fixture.
“Against Reading we had enough chances to win the game and we'll be looking to get back to winning ways against Wigan,” he added.
