  1. You need ammonia in the hair colour in order for it to lighten the hair- no ammonia will not lighten dark hair to blond- no- your colour will not come out evenly throughout- this is called a tint- back or corrective colour- you should seek professional help to do this if you care about the condition of your hair and the end result....Also your best bet would to go back to the person who did your streaks in the first place and get them to do the roots with streaks again- a full head colour once it grows in and especially blond will give you a bigger and more noticeable "skunk" look than streaks or highlights will. If you go full head blond you will need to colour your hair every 4-6 weeks, with  highlights you can go way longer...

  2. It won't look professional unless you know what you are doing. The best at home all over color and highlights kit is from Loreal. It's Color Expert and I have been using it myself for a long time. Good luck!

  3. What color is the rest of your hair?  Black with streaks?  It makes a difference but if you dye the whole thing, it probably won't come out straight.  One reason why you shouldn't get streaks is that they are hard to maintain and when they grow out it can be a nightmare.  Get high and lowlights and then you don't have that problem.

Right now I would get that root touch up stuff you can do at home.  Get the color that matches best.  There aren't many but there's a reason.  Your hair lifts at the roots and catches light.  Plus any close match will not be as noticable as black roots are.

  4. What color are you trying to do? If you already have black roots and you are trying to go lighter i would suggest you go and have it professional done. No store bought hair color is good for your hair. But if you do choose to go with a store bought color i would suggest to try and find a color product without Ammonia in it. Ammonia dries your hair out. Good Luck!!

  5. Hmm. not sure about the color that is totally up to you, but I just read something on Marie Claire and they recommend Clairol's Perfect 10. They tested tons of brands and this one came out the best and its only 13.99. So that's my suggestion. Good luck. Also here's the link if your interested.

  6. It may be a little striped, but closer to highlighted than stripy/streaky. It should look pretty even and natural if you follow the instructions correctly. Here are some of the better at home hair dyes: http://www.viewpoints.com/Hair-Coloring

  7. The color will not come out perfectly even throughout.  You are using 1 color and covering at least 2 different color bases.  The color will deposit on all of the hair, but will look different on the highlighted hair than it will on the rest of the hair.  If you do decide to color your own hair, you need to remember that the highlighted hair will be attracted to the base color in whatever you decide to color with.  I would stay away from ash, cool, neutral, natural, etc.  Stick with warm, gold, etc.  The highlighted hair is a little tricky the first time covering.  After this initial coloring, just do what you would normally want to do.
