Dylan Bosch dominates 100m butterfly heats at the 2011 Telekom South Africa National Championship
Dylan Bosch made a wonderful splash in the preliminary rounds of the 100m butterfly, on day four of the 2011 Telekom South Africa National Championship. The championship will conclude with the completion of South African Swimming Team to hit the Shanghai
Aquatic Centre at the 2011 World Championships, in July.
Bosch stunned the arena with his magnificent performance in the first lap, where he led his way to the first turn, clocking a time of 25.05 seconds. The 17-year-old was followed by LP-LP’s Neil Watson and Heinrich Alberts, who presented the second and third
fastest swim for the first lap, touching the wall in a time of 25.62 and 25.65 seconds, respectively.
With the help of his strong tumble turn, Bosch gained a slight lead and cruised his way to the finishing wall timing 29.14 seconds, to post 54.19 seconds on the board. 18-year-old, Alberts, followed him into the semi-finals as the second fastest swimmer,
clocking a time of 28.93 seconds to post 54.58 seconds.
Watson failed to maintain his lead for the third spot and was crossed by WPA-WP’s Sebastien Rousseau and KZNA-KZ’s Darian Townsend, in the final lap. Rousseau completed his second lap in a time of 28.59 seconds to place 54.60 seconds for the third fastest
qualification. Townsend finished fifth in 28.75 seconds to report a time of 55.18 seconds, ahead of Watson, who touched the wall in 29.73 seconds and submitted 55.35 seconds.
Winner of the Men’s 200m butterfly, Chad Le Clos, managed to qualify as the sixth fastest swimmer into the semi-finals by clocking a time of 55.70 seconds. Le Clos confirmed his spot to China earlier at the championship by earning the 200m butterfly title
under a FINA Qualified Time.
These swimmers will once again battle each other in the semi-finals, where the top eight swimmers will qualify for the final and will be a step away to confirm their spots into the South African Swimming Team for the 2011 World Championships, this July.
