Dylan Bundy emerges as top prospect for Baltimore Orioles
The American League Eastern franchise, Baltimore Orioles struggled during the 2011 season, and had to face the worst season in their history, but they still have plenty to rely on. The Orioles’ Minor League level now has been equipped with a type of talent,
which can turn the club into tough contestants in the coming years.
As the club has changed their front office and commitment to move forward, there will be room for the Minor Leaguers to come and show their abilities at the big league. The two major prospects for the coming year might be considered the biggest threats in
the days when there will be new pitchers and new faces in the Major League.
The right-handed pitcher, Dylan Bundy has been considered the best pitcher in the 2011 draft but he was not given chance because of some internal issues. He then moved down to number 4 and joined his brother and fellow top 15 prospects for the 2012 season.
The 19-year-old young gun can very easily reach near the 90mph in his fastball. His curveball and cutter with a perfect changeup are extra qualities showing him more mature than his age. His pitching has been considered above average than his age, but the
Orioles are still with the view to provide him few more chances before taking him into the big league level.
With his extra advanced abilities, Bundy was hoping to the join the club in the coming season, but the Orioles are not taking the pitcher so aggressively, instead they want him to move forward steadily. The club will send him to low-A level and the pitcher
will have to make a steady progress before making his entry into the Major League Baseball level.
Keeping in mind the Orioles need to compile the game winning pitching depth, the experts believe the Orioles should provide the pitcher a chance at least in the high-A level. It will send the club into a waiting list for next two or three more years before
they can see themselves into the America League Division title.
Orioles has moved forward their other two top prospects Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop from low-A level to high-A level in the mid of the 2011 season. They have also given hope to Bundy to think about the promotion in the same time-period during the next
season.
According to veteran baseball writers, looking at the form and the commitment to the game, one can easily judge the ability of the right-hand pitcher, who might take only two or three more seasons to enter into the MLB level.
The teenager has shown all the necessary ingredients required becoming the primary starter at the MLB level, but he still has to learn from the experienced players. Bundy has to look carefully at his fitness, as many managers consider premium high sized
pitcher for the starting position. Bundy is 6ft 1in and 200 pounds.
In Oklahoma City, considerable changes have been witnessed. Bundy and his fellow Archie Bradley has been selected among the first seven picks of the draft. New York Mets acquired Michael Fulmer in the supplement first round while Houston Astros took Adrian
Houser in the second round. Bundy’s fellow catcher Drew Stiner was signed by the San Francisco Giants in 2011 as a 43rd round pick. It does not matter when Bundy makes his MLB debut, as he is destined for great things in the big leagues.
