Dylan Carter excels in Men’s 200 yard freestyle prelims – Speedo Winter Junior Nationals
Dylan Carter of Davie Nadadores excelled in the qualification rounds of Men’s 200 yard freestyle on day two of the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships at University of Tennessee, Knoxville on Friday, December 7.
Carter demonstrated his gruelling efforts in the freestyle discipline and proved his eligibility for the fastest qualification spot.
The 16-year-old Carter not only secured the top qualification effort but he also thrashed the junior record with his commendable timing of 1 minute and 36.04 seconds.
His exhausting effort remained 0.16 seconds faster from the record of 1 minute and 36.20 seconds, made by William Hamilton of Great Lakes Aquatic in 2010.
Carter remained 1.45 seconds ahead of Josh Booth of Bolles School Sharks, who completed his race in second best place and entered the final round with the timing of 1 minute and 37.49 seconds.
Booth was chased by Matthew Adams of LTP Racing Club, who suffered a loss of one and a half body length and transpired on the finishing end for third position by reporting a time of 1 minute and 38.86 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Bob Bantley of Upper Dublin Aquatics, who was only 0.03 seconds behind and posted a time of 1 minute and 38.89 seconds.
Bantley was chased by Caeleb Dressel of Bolles School Sharks, who was 0.20 seconds slower and concluded his race in a time of 1 minute and 39.09 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth spot of the race was obtained by James Yoder of Stingrays-GA, who was 0.02 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 39.11 seconds.
Yoder was traced by Maxime Rooney of Pleasanton Seahawks, who was 0.11 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall for seventh position with an effort of 1 minute and 39.22 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by John Manchester of SwimMAC Carolina, who was 0.12 seconds apart and clocked a time of 1 minute and 39.34 seconds.
Furthermore, Carter was happy with his effort and shared his plans of doing the same in final.
