Dylan Frittelli disqualified after the first day at Atzenbrugg
The Lyoness Open 2012 is in full swing. The venue for this auspicious event is the Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg, Austria.
The biggest names in the world of golf have gathered for this event to fight for glory. The event at Atzenbrugg teed off on the 25th of July and is supposed to end on the 28th of July.
Three days of the four-day event have already passed and without a doubt the first three days have been full of drama. It was a complete package for the fans. They are certainly getting their money’s worth in the tournament.
There was already an air of tension on the course and the rain added more controversy. Even on the first day, the play had to be stopped due to the unfriendly weather conditions. The course had become wet, which created even more difficulty for the players.
Dylan Frittelli had a good start to the tournament. Still he was disqualified after the first day. The reason being, he missed his tee-off time. He was not at the course on time and, by the rules of the tour, he was disqualified.
Usually this is not a big issue. Many players have missed their tee times before and have been late on the course. They were disqualified as well.
The case of Frittelli seems a bit strange because his tee-off time was 13:30 local time. No player should be late if his tee-off time is this late. He should have been on time easily.
The South African upcoming golfer Dylan Frittelli had to be disqualified on this count. The young player was late, as he over slept on the second day of the tournament. The reason for his oversleeping was a combination of fever and jet lag.
Frittelli had a pretty decent start. In the first round of the tournament he had just a single birdie and a bogey on the front nine.
His back nine was somewhat the same. He again carded a birdie and a bogey. This made his score even par after the first round. He was eight strokes behind the first round leader.
