Dylan Richmond and Robert Hill impress in swimming events: 2011 WPSC Holiday Sprints
Dylan J Richmond of GOST-NI and Robert J Hill impressed the aquatic crowd by winning gold medals of Boys 100-yard breaststroke in their respective age groups at the 2011 Whitney Point Swim Club (WPSC) Holiday Sprints on Thursday, December 29, 2011.
Richmond outshined his competitors in the 13-14 years category while Hill proved his dominance in 15 years and above group.
The 14-year-old Richmond remained inevitably strong from his competitors from start of the race. With his relentless efforts, he became prominent for gold spot in the initial lap of the swim. He not only won gold medal of the event but also lowered the age
group mark by clocking an impressive time of 1 minute and 15.76 seconds.
The gold medallist was trailed by his team-member, Mitchell L Phelps, who remained 0.60 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end with a noteworthy effort of 1 minute and 16.36 seconds for silver medal. He was trailed by James J Potts of METS-NI,
who was just 0.16 seconds slower from overwhelming the efforts of his former finisher and posted a nice time of 1 minute and 16.52 seconds for bronze medal.
Next was the equivalent event in 15 years and above class, where Hill showed his urgency towards the finishing spot for gold medal. With his persistent efforts, he remained considerably ahead of his opponents all the way through the 100-yard event. He submitted
a phenomenal time of 1 minute and 10.33 seconds for gold medal. His effort was 5.10 seconds slower than the age group record of 1 minute and 05.23 seconds, made by Michael J Lacson in 2009.
The champion was followed by Jacob L Mendelson of GOST-NI, who remained nearly five seconds behind and ended his swim with an effort of 1 minute and 15.41 seconds for silver medal. Mendelson was traced by Jackson Retzlaff of CVSC-NI, who emerged on the podium
for bronze medal by reporting a time of 1 minute and 48.30 seconds.
The arena appreciated commendable swims of all participants whereas the position holders were awarded medals for their remarkable efforts after the completion of session.
