Dyscuss the european motives behind the so called "new imperialism"?

Were any of those motives justified? If so, why? If not why not? What countries were able to keep from being taken over and why were they succesful when others failed?

  2. Europe was industrializing its nations and wanted to expand its markets of its produced goods. They also wanted to produce more raw goods and so they went about the world trying to conquer different parts of the world. Europe wanted to conquer parts of the Middle East for oil, Asia for its spices, sugar, and cotton, and Africa for its silver and gold.

    Japan, Russia, and China were the countries that resisted imperialism while almost all other countries experienced imperialism.
