Dyslexia Help? plz!!?

Question

So I am dyslexic, and my teachers know and everything, but I am really bad at reading aloud, but right now we are reading Othello aloud in class in a circle. I keep the whole dyslexia thing on the down low, but I am so embaressed to read out loud. I am also nervous to confront my teacher. Also if she says yes, it will be so embaressing and obvious to not read. I know this is kind of stupid, but please help!!

Just ask your teacher to keep your reading time to a minimum, that way you won't have to read that much, and everything will seem normal.

It is good that you are participating. If your embarassed then you should just tell your teacher before or after class. If that doesn't help or doesnt fit to what you want to do, then you could tell a counselor  and ask them to tell your teacher.its really nothing to be ashamed of! good luck! :D

plan ahead-with your teacher---pick out a part you are going to read the next day-practice and try to memorize it--you only get picked for that part

You are doing good by actually participating to read aloud in front of your classmates. Be proud and look at it that way. Just read on and you'll feel no one is staring, judging, or making fun of you.

Or if you don't feel comfortable, just tell your teacher after class or before class.

        in an email recently & I really don't know anything about your problem though I'm learning as my spouse has it. But my though was maybe if you had things arranged differently on the page it may sort itself out for You. Like the email I received, I can read it fine & it's backwards & the way I understand Dyslexia it makes things backwards & reversed ect. Hope that may send you in the right direction for help. Also You should speak with Your principal, there is usually (@ least in Canada) 1 teacher in each school who has extra training on helping students w/ this. Keep at it you will get there!!!

Go ahead and talk to your teacher about your worries, but offer a suggestion that will keep you reading with your peers.

Ask your teacher to identify passages that you will read ahead of time--a day or two in advance.  You will practice reading those lines until you feel relatively comfortable reading them aloud.

No one but you and the teacher needs to know that everything was planned and you will be able to participate with confidence.

I've done this almost every year for students who are reluctant to read aloud in class - for any reason.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!

i work as a secretary and give people the wrong numbers to people all the time

but im quiting in april

i just try and concentrate really hard on the correct numbers or words
