Does Dyslexia have anything to do with mitosis or meiosis?

I've searched up the information that dyslexia may be genetic disorder, a disorder that runs in families.

If dyslexia does has anything to do with mitosis or meiosis, then can you tell me what?

Thnx

  1. people say that dyslexia runs in the family but i'm the only one in my family with it.

  2. Your big problem is that you are using the word, "Dyslexia," which is a basket term for a disability that causes it to be difficult to learn  to read. There are many of them. Here are some:

Short and long term visual memory deficits

    Visual processing deficits

    Visual Motor Integration deficits

    Visual Perception deficits

    Visual Tracking deficits

    Visual Figure ground deficits

You can see why doing research on dyslexia doesn't really get you too far.

However, that being said, most learning disabilities are genetic. Some are also caused by insults to the brain, alcohol and drug consumption during pregnancy and birth difficulties. These of course aren't genetic.

Mitosis is the stage when nuclear (chromosomes separate) and cytoplasmic (cytokinesis) division occur. This is simple cell division and occurs in any cell except for genomes.

Meiosis is the division of cells called genomes. These cells are the ones that carry genetic material encoded in their DNA. They produce cells called gametes, that carry a copy of all of the original DNA. They are present in all animals that reproduce sexually. During fertilization, these cells must merge with other gametes to form zygotes. During this process, the cells are subject to genetic recombination, so each new zygote will have a unique combination of genes.

So yes, learning disabilities are transmitted during Meiosis, but as you can see, it may are may not be transmitted because of the random recombination. You can take a look at genetics to find out the rate of learning disability transmission.

To my knowledge, most learning disabilities are recessive genes and so every child in the family will not be affected. There are a few disabilities that are dominant, such as Huntington's Corea, so half of the children who receive the gene will have the disease. This is a fairly rare disease.

  3. mitosis and meiosis is forms of cell divison. dyslexia is any disorder that affets reading.  And yes dyslexia can be genetic in some instinances. It doesnt really have anything to do with mitosis or meiosis, due to that it isnt a mutation, which is what happens during cell divion.
