Dyslexia testing?

Can anyone tell me what types of test will be given to a child who is being testd for dyslexia?

My dd is going in next week for testing and I'd like to be able to tell her what is going to happen when she gets there, but have no idea what the test will be like. I told her it will probably be like playing games or doing school work.

  2. Depending on your son's age, the most commonly given test is the CTOPP, which is composed of several tests that involve skills like identifying the first sound in words, rhyming, etc.

There will probably also be some assessment of reading level too.  The way you described it is fine.  The most important thing is to make sure that your son knows that he has to do his best but that he's not being graded.  Testers are trained to stop at a level when your child starts missing too many answers so he doesn't get frustrated.

  3. that's pretty much it--just like doing school work

kind of like standardized testing that everyone does--it just tests different things---

  4. They will look at words like vote for obama and write what he sees if the b as a d then he has dyslexia.
