  1. Your best bet is to use a graphic organizer for your writing. These will help you organize your writing and keep you from forgetting what you have already written.

Try this to get some idea. www.eduplace.com/graphicorganizer/

There are a huge number of these on the Internet.

    Here are a couple more.

    www.teachervision

    www.sdcoe.k12.ca.us/score

Also, ask the teacher for notes if he or she has them available.

  2. Do you have an active IEP?  If so, then it should address accomodations or modifications to your curriculum to help ensure your ability to succeed in the classroom.  If your dyslexia is not addressed then a new IEP needs to be scheduled.  If no IEP exists, then the school district needs to assess your learning abilitiies and establish your needs.  Let me know and I'd be happy to give you further assistance.

    How widespread is dyslexia?

About 13-14% of the school population nationwide has a handicapping condition that qualifies them for special education.

Take heart, you are not alone!  Help is near.  Someone cares enough to assist you and enable you to learn how to write better.  I will say a prayer for you to find them!

Here's also a couple of good articles to refer to.  The last one is quite encouraging.  Hang in there, you'll make it!

  3. You are not suppose to be going to a special ed class. If you are recieving special ed services, for dyslexia or anything else,  you are suppose to be in your regular classrooms and getting the help you need in your regular classes.

Your parents will have to deal with this, that is part of the special ed law IDEA.

Tell them to call your state dept of education and ask for the parent advocacy center. Every state has one and they are free.

They will help your parents fight to keep you out of a special ed class and get the help you need in a regular classroom.
