Question:

Dyson Animal DC07 Replacement Cylinder - really necessary??

I took my dyson animal into an authorized Dyson service center in my town; they said the dyson belts/cylinders go out every 6 months and you need to replace them asap. My dyson is 5 yrs old (never had it serviced) - the service guy wants $50 for the cylinder part (which "must be replaced") plus $50 for the labor. Any of you dyson techs or experts or dyson owners experience the same problem, or know anything about this dyson problem? I'm thinking this service guy is trying to con me and get the extra money from me. I don't know! I just want my dyson serviced, that's all.. !!!

  1. A Dyson DC07 will, after 5 years of use, need a clutch.  A $100.00 repair in not out of line for a Dyson service and a clutch replacement.  The Dyson DC07 and DC14 use your average rubber vacuum belts.  Which in all other vacuums should ideally be replaced every 6 months to a year.  Replacing the clutch is the only way to change both belts on a Dyson DC07 and DC14.  Replacing a Dyson clutch every 6 months is not realistic.  A clutch replacement every 3-6 years should be considered normal maintenance on Dyson models DC07 and DC14.
