  1. cuz atc has authority due 2 certain circumstances that unfortunately dont have the time to talk about cuz its saturday night and I have a parrrty 2 go, yeah boi!

look around online there are many sources, or give me a call I have a few books that could help.

  2. No.

It's controlled airspace because you can't fly under IFR in class E without being in contact with ATC.

Oddly, you can fly in the clouds BELOW class E without talking to anyone!

  3. No, you do not need to be in contact with ATC or have permission. It is considered controlled airspace because treating it as uncontrolled airspace would have deadly consequences.

For example, in uncontrolled airspace, VFR aircraft can fly as close as they want to clouds, provided they don't fly into them. After all, every other aircraft has to avoid those clouds, so there's no risk. But what would happen if an IFR aircraft in class E were to pop out of that cloud just a hundred feet from a VFR aircraft skirting its edge? Disaster, that's what would happen.

So VFR aircraft must follow the rules for flying in controlled airspace in class E or they would risk collisions with IFR aircraft.

Controlled airspace = IFR traffic = special risks for VFR

  4. no, unless there is a control tower speicified for class E (look for a blue airport icon with surface class E surrounding the airport) airspace surface area. I dont know where this occurs, but i guess it does, then you are required to contact tower just like in class D.

It is considered controlled because IFR traffic seperation is available in class E, but not in G. Most airspace is designed for the IFR system, not for weekend VFR flyers.
