on ebay i seen something called shipping insurance what is that?

sometimes things get lost or broken in shipping, its rare but it happens

usually costs like $1 per $400 at UPS I think

they don't pay up though

Shipping insurance is something you would purchase to cover the expense of the item. If the product you bought were to be lost in the mail and you had insurance you would be reimbursed for the estimated cost of the item.

it's an option you can request or a seller may provide it along with the s/h..it's so if your item is damaged through the shipping time it can be replaced.what  you paid for the item.

The majority of buyer's decline this option as the item normally arrives to buyer okay.

And, if the item is not received by the buyer, all you have to do is contact ebay/paypal/the seller, and the norm is that all will work out in the end to the satisfaction of the buyer which leads to the buyer not having to purchase the "additional" insurance.

In the words, insurance is another way for the seller to increase the item price even if just a few cents as some sellers charge insurance rates that are higher than the rates that the shipping source charges.

I have never paid insurance for any of my ebay purchases which inlcudes my 37" LCD TV that I had sent from Chicago to here in Clearwater, FL.
