i wanted to back up my itunes library so i used the "back up to disc" option on itunes.

it said "finishing disk" for a long time then after almost an hour it said there was an error.

so i pressed eject and the disk wouldn't come out.

i found a hole in the front so i stuck a paper clip in it and nothing happened.

so now the thing is just blinking.

any other ways i can get it to eject?

  1. This happened to me before so I turned off my computer and that made it pop open. My drive was broken and had to be replaced. It was still under warranty but normally it was almost $200 (I have a Compaq Presario)

  2. Alot of the time if the disk you are backing up from is badly fragmented it will not burn a CD or DVD properly and you will end up with errors or the computer will freeze. So try to hit the eject button while shutting down the computer or while starting it up. Hopefully you still have the music on the computer and you haven't deleted it. The disk you burned isn't any good so you might as well throw it out ounce you get it out. Before trying to burn the next disc defragment the drive the music is on. Also make sure you are not running out of room on the disk your burning to. You maybe burning to a CD when you need to do multiple Cd's or a DVD. Hopefully this will help you.

  3. Push the paperclip harder and deeper in the hole, the system should eject..... it's mechanical and therefor it's a little bit tough.

    And otherwise reboot your machine.

The system is just in a loop.

    That's all
