Question:

E-mailing my soldier overseas?

My soldier just got deployed overseas to s. korea and we plan to e-mail each other. I was wondering if it takes e-mails longer to get to him when he's in Korea than if he were in the states. Anything else you know about Camp Casey Korea would be great too!

  1. It shouldn't take any longer for e-mails to reach him then if you were mailing someone in the states.

  2. That depends if you send it Priority, Standard, or Space Available Email.

  3. It takes just as long/short as it does within the States. My husband and I mainly communicate via IM, sometimes there's a bit of a lag, but that's doable, too.  South Korea isn't really a deployment though, it's a duty station...

  4. No, it's the same as if you were emailing him here in America. Phone calls will take longer, and I recommend he gets Vonage or Skype to save some money. And as a surprise, you should send him a webcam with speaker capabilities, then you can talk instantly online AND see each other! It was the best thing for me and my bf's relationship while I was stationed there last year.
