E-reader, a good buy?

im thinking of buying one to read my pdf's but im not sure if it may be wort its price or would it be better to just print them?

I am not impressed with this reader. Sure, it can read some open formats like PDF files in addition to the usual proprietary formats specific to Sony, but it is strictly black and white and no backlight, which means I can't read it late at night in bed without bright lights so I can see the display. They DO have a light on a flexible stalk which clips on and lights the screen from above, but really, that is kind of awkward and is just something ELSE to carry around and get lost. Sorry, I'd rather spend the money on a Pocket PC which can do most of all this e-reader can do and comes with a built-in backlight and color, AND I can do other things as well. In my opinion, this e-reader is NOT a very good deal when compared to a comparably priced pocket PC.
