E85 or Gasoline?

I have a PT Cruiser that runs on gasoline and gets about 20 mpg around town and a Grand Caravan that gets about 15 mpg but runs on E85. Which puts fewer greenhouse gases into the atmosphere? I'm looking far an answer with numbers to back it up.

  2. Don't have sources.  But here's the deal, to help you understand the sources others will surely post.  The CO2 from the ethanol itself is unimportant.  Part of the "natural cycle", plants took it out of the air just a little while ago.

But there is a lot of fossil fuel used in the production of ethanol, start to finish.

The bottom line is considered to be a small win in helping with global warming and dependence on foreign oil.  But only a small one.

The real win for ethanol will be when we start producing it from something other than corn.  Like saw grass, which goes places other things won't, with less water, fertilizer, etc.
