EA issue statement that gamers need not contact customer service and that they are working on removing the wrongly imposed bans.
No title could be called a triple A unless it has its fair share of issues and controversy. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 turned one particular British MP head that was of the opinion that one particular level in the game, which took place in the London Underground, was too similar to the terrorist attacks which took place in the country.
As for issues, well a large number of games that Bethesda tends to release usually come with their own problems, which are fixed later on.
Battlefield 3 has also had its fair share of mishaps and controversy, the latest of which saw a number of gamers banned from playing the game online after a group of hackers randomly dished out bans to players.
The incident took place almost a week ago and EA were quick to acknowledge it and have now found the source of the problem and are working with the concerned parties to resolve the issue.
A statement on the studio’s blog explained that they were already working on removing the bans and ensuring a similar incident would not repeat itself in the future. “Together with third part service providers we have taken steps to remove the faulty bans, and improve the protection against future fake bans.”
The statement went on to explain that the problem was not with Battlefield 3 itself but rather any third part services that allowed access to the game.
It continued, “We have determined that the root cause resulting in the server bans is not directly related to Battlefield 3, but rather related to select third part services which server owners can use in conjunction with PunkBuster to protect their servers.
The statement concluded that if users were having issues that they need not contact customer support as the company was already working on the problem. It also stated that the issue was limited to PC users and that console owners were not affected by the random bans.
In the meantime the studio recommends that users attempt to join other servers that have PunkBuster enabled.
