  1. the owners of the pets that you are babysitting could kidnap you....the dogs could bite you...the animals don't know you and will give you a hard time...

  2. too much responsibility

  3. You're too young.

You don't have enough experience dealing with animals.

Someone will get hurt and there's so many ways that could happen.  You must consider all of them.

  4. If one dies or runs away, you can't try to replace it; that would be extremely insensitive and insulting to the bond between the pet and owner.  You have to be up to telling the truth.

  5. Your to young, not experienced enough to handle some of the bigger animals, wouldn't know how to react in an emergency, are not responsible enough, if the animals will be at your house they can stink up the house, you might get caught up in your activities and forget to check on them.....

the list goes on and on

  6. the animals could harm you or you could get bit by one.

    or you might lose one.

    If it's a big dog.

ask your mother about smaller dogs.

maybe she's jus worried about the bigger ones.

  7. The animals could bite you, and who knows if they have had all of their shots!! If the animal messes on the carpet while under your care, you could be held liable for cleaning bills. Buying a replacement pet for when one dies would be super expensive.

  8. There are a lot of reasons why a minor should not be a pet sitter.

I would say her biggest concern would be:

    1)You are too young.

Most people want responsible adults to care for their animals, especially when they are leaving them to come into the house.

2)How will you obtain insurance, mush less pay for it?

Most reputable pet sitters have insurance, in case something goes wrong. What if you accidentally leave a door unlocked and someone burglarizes the house? What if the dog dies in your care or runs off? I "babysit" dogs that people have paid over $1000 for. If I lost them, I would be responsible to replace that loss. Insurance covers some(not all), monetary losses. If you do not get insurance(which you cannot, since you are a minor), you now are fully responsible for any loss, with your own money(or better yet your moms money). She is the one who will get sued if something goes wrong. And trust me, even the "nicest" people will sue you if they get the chance.

    3)Lack of experience

I can speak for myself when I say, I want someone who knows what they are doing. I want peace of mind that my pet is in the care of someone knowledgeable. If I leave my ferret with someone, I want them to be experience in ferret care, and know all the symptoms of illness as well as basic needs. When I leave my rat with someone, I want them to know that red discharge from the nose and sneezing is not blood and a cold, but the sign of  respiratory illness and I should be called right away.

4)How are you going to get to the animals?

If they are far enough away, then your mom is the one that is going to have to take time out of her schedule to drive you. She probably wouldn't say it, but she will have to drive you there(and waste gas, and sit there and wait), and she gets nothing. Her time should be paid for, the same as your time is. Her gas should also be reimbursed(especially the way prices are today), but odds are you are not going to offer her anything.

Lastly, you mom may not be able to be convinced. As an adult, my main concern if my child wanted to pet sit(and my concerns as a sitter myself), have always been what I covered in number 2. If something goes wrong your mother is responsible for it. People are sue happy these days, and if something goes wrong you will be paying. It could be anything from losing the keys(which you then need to pay to replace all the locks in the house), to something more serious, like the dog injuring himself or dieing. If your mom says no, I would give her a break, she is the one who is financially put at risk from this venture.
