I am 16 and currently doing GCSE. I got A*(90-100%) for all my subjects. Its quite hard to decide what i want to be later on. I did maths,physics,geography,history,english,... and biology. I do believe that I didnt study hard enuff for maths and physics and still managed an A* What about doing acturial science later on? I've heard its tough? can anyone explain what it really is. Please do not copy and paste from google =D, cause the english is sorta technical! Even if I do acturial science, can i manage my dad's business later on. Well, if anyone is suggesting management, I do not want to do it since it is not a very high qualification and wouldnt earn me a good salary incase I do not manage my dad's business later on. Actuarial science would put be on the safe side, even if i didnt manage his business atleast I would earn a good salary!

  1. thats just showing off. do bricklaying.

  2. How about Crimenology or Phorensic Science that would suit you.

  3. When I was 16 a couple of years ago, I thought of becoming the same thing. Since then I've changed my mind many times about what I'd like to do for a living. So you might want to keep your options open, just in case.

When finding out about the profession, I was told that Actuarial science is mainly statistics based. It involves working out things like how much people should be paying for their life insurance depending on their lifestyle (ie. working out how long they'll live).

It's a good earner and a very respectable job. Because of this though it is very hard to enter into the profession because there are many specific exams that need to passed, however, assuming you haven't only taken 6 GCSEs, then you may be capable.

Between now and deciding on your career path, just keep the work up for your AS and A2s, aim to get into a good university, get a decent degree and you'll be in a strong position to achieve your goal.

Good luck with it all and well done on your GCSEs!
