My computer shuts automatically?

I don't know if it's of overheat? or I don't know if it's another virus?

"The computer guy just installed an anti - virus so hopefully that's not the reason why it shuts"

Do you have any idea why though? thank you!

  1. 1. Virus

    2. Spyware

    3. Your computer fan is not working well and your CPU is overheating.

    4. Actually this is connected to the other one..hmm how long do you leave your computer on?  If you leave it on too long it could use too much power.

    5. I don't think its this..but perhaps.  How many programs are you running?  Running a lot? Sometimes if you do too much computer can't handle it.

  2. What kind of computer is it? (brand/model)

You can try running SpeedFan or a similar utility to see if it's overheating or not.

You can look at the Event Viewer (right-click My Computer, click on Manage, click on Event Viewer, click on System) and see if there are any entries that explain the shutdown.

You can also try: right-click on My Computer, select Properties, select Advanced tab, select Startup & Recovery, and uncheck the box that says "Automatically Reboot".

Process Explorer, a program from www.sysinternals.com, is a  useful utility that shows you what programs are running and how they ran.  It's a lot more useful than the built-in task manager for this purpose.

  3. Two things it could be.

    1. A virus I doubt it though

    2. Your powersupply could be going out
