Which brand do you think is the best in the world of cameras?

I need a legit answer, please. I'm looking for a new camera and would like to know which brand users find the BEST!

it all depends. everyone's gonna choose a brand because they're a diehard fan of it. it seems that once a person chooses a brand, it's a lifelong bond. it depends on which one of them suits you the best. Personally, i prefer Nikons.

It depends of course on the budget and on what type of camera you are looking for (compact point-and-shoot, DSLR etc). For compact point-and-shoot I personally like the Canon IXUS line, for example IXUS 70, 75, 80 etc. In the US, they are called Powershot SD1000, SD750, SD1100.

Canon makes great DSLRs to - in medium/consumer level - EOS400D/450D (US: Digital Rebel XTi/XSi), and in the pro level EOS1, 5, 40 etc.

Nikon also makes really good DSLRs.

But a short answer, since I guess that you are looking for a compact one - pick up a Canon SD1000 or similar! Great features, great quality, low price.

I would go with Nikon or Canon.  Simply because they are by far the best of the bunch, hands down.  Plus they are the only ones dedicated to cameras and camera gear.  The other companies make a zillion other products but one thing they don't make is readily available accessories for their cameras. Go figure.  Sony does make some great point and shoots though so I wouldn't exclude them if you are searching for that type. If it's an SLR you're after, stick with the Canon or Nikon.

My local camera shop claim to be "all dedicated Canon fans".

(Nikon are exceedingly good but are not so simple to use and I sense this may be important for you to know.  Samsung are very good for the price I am told.)
