Ok, so I just got braces yesterday, and they hurt really bad! I also have these blue bump things that are supposed to make me not bite my brackets off. Those are the only things I can chew with! What can I eat?? It hurts to chew, so is there anything I can make with basic pantry items that will help me? I can cook just about anything...so HELP!

  1. have soup! i ate loads of it when i first got my braces, but ul be glad to know the pain goes away after a week or two :)

  2. i ate turkey sandwich meat since it's really soft

  3. That pain only lasts about 2-4 days.  Try eating yogurt, soup, or just cutting up the food you eat into very tiny peices.

  4. Mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, jell-o, yogurt, pudding, ice cream, macaroni if you cook it enough, smoothies, oatmeal, stuffing, soup, and more, if you look it up on google you will probably get tons more recommendations and recipes!

I have had braces for a few years, and for me, the pain went away in a week, so don't sweat it it will be over soon!

  5. Ugh, I feel your pain.

It sucks but for now stuff like yogurt, soup, Jell-o, applesauce, all of that is going to be easiest.  Other soft things like Au Gratin potatoes or rice would probably be easy enough, as well.

    Good luck!

  6. Pudding, Jello, apple sauce, SOFT foods

Take as much pain reliever that is recommended.

  7. Pasta Is Your Friend... and also really buttery toast and milkshakes and smoothies!

    Hope i helped!

  8. eat yogurt

  9. I feeel your pain.. im getting my braces off soon. I would suggust. soup. and jello.. Things you really dont have to chew. The pain should be gone in a few days.. good luck =]

  10. i have to say when it comes to braces- it sucks. until you get used to them try eating things like soup, macaroni & cheese, and other soft/liquid foods. braces are a great excuse for eating things like ice cream, pudding, & italian ice though! =]

hope this helps & feel better!

  11. argg, first week SUCKS, but it get better, i promise.

eat stuff that doesn't require much chewing - also, if you have dental wax (the wax you put over your brackets so they wont cut up the inside of your mouth) that will really help.

ice cream, oatmeal, yogurt, soup, noodles, soft bread, cheese

  12. Soup and yogurt are good to start off with, when the pain goes away in the next few days you can eat other things.

  13. Macaronia and cheese, pasta, yogurt, soup.

For the first week or so eating soft foods is best!

  14. your only suppose to eat soup and milkshakes/smoothies for the 1st couple of days sweetheart!! I know what u feel like! that was me about 4 months ago!

  15. yup. i had the same problem.

they will stop hurting in about 3 days.

then you can get some new eating methods.

it sucks having braces, but its worth it.

in the mean time good foods are:

    macaroni

    soup

    pasta/spagetti

    you get the point,

    go get some ice cream!

  16. what about those nurtitional shakes? Maybe just do that while they hurt.

  17. their really isnt much try soups and stuff :) good luck it will be over soon!!! my braces were on for 2 years ( just got em off last month) it goes by fast the pain lasts like 2 weeks whenu first get them. try anythin that doesnt require chewing maybe saltines dipped in soup or goldfish u can suck on or shakes ramen noodles? lol Just think of how ur teeth will look at teh end! u wont stop swiping ur tongue over em.

  18. corn muffins and fudge. worked for my brother. it will work for u.

  19. I know exactly how you feel. That happens to everyone when they first get their braces and it only lasts for a couple of days. Just eat softer foods. Raviolies were my favorite. Every time I got my braces tightened I wanted them because there easy to chew. Try eating ice cream!!, yogurt, pudding, bananas, softer foods....

  20. eat bread..

    eat soup..

  21. Ahhh...braces....To tell you the truth, there's not much you can eat without them hurting. I suggest soft things that don't invovle a lotta chewing, like pasta or fruit. And then there's yogurt and pudding and jello of course..

    Good luck with your braces!

  22. It gets better.  I don't recommend corn on the cob.

  23. When I had braces, the first days I went for the mushy foods. Nothing that takes a lot of tension to break up. For example, make a smoothie with all the fruits you can think of. The cold will help soothe/numb your mouth, and it will taste good!

Or you can just go to this great website I found. It has tons of ideas.

  24. i have braces and i know that when i got them they hurt for about a week. I just ate some yogurt and icecream and maybe try some apple sause..eat soft foods.

  25. Soft foods are best, most have been suggested already.

Pain pills - I found that Motrin worked best for me, even though in my case it still hurt to eat stuff for a while.

Best of luck - it just takes time to get used to them.

  26. When I had braces..  I did find it easier to use my tongue to mush stuff up with than chew with my teeth. Eat stuff like applesauce and bread... tomorrow will be A LOT easier then today, you should be able to eat almost anything

  27. ik it sucks at first! but after about a week, u wont even notice!!

when i got mine, i aint noodles, mashed pototoes, ice cream. stuff thats soft, but filling. just dont shove alot of stuff in ur mouth at once! oh and take advil! it helps! good luck!

  28. eat things you don't have to chew much mashed potatoes, ice cream, soup, take pain killers, and just try and relax eventually it will ease up on pain...but every time you get your braces tightened which is about once or twice a month(right?) it will feel the same way for about the same amount of time so eventually you learn to tolerate the pain...I remember that feeling all too well :(

  29. oatmeal, yogurt,ice cream,toaster pastries,bananas,spaghetti...

  30. Jello.. Pudding.. soup.

  31. i had braces for 3 yrs and im getting them off this school yr the day after school start so i know a lil sum
